My Writing
I cannot remember a time when I did not write but now I am preparing to go in a radically different direction with a book which I dubbed 'Topsy' in exasperation.
TopsyWeb
holds the outline of the book which looks at the way in which twentieth-century writers of girls' fiction have used disability in their books.
I hope that I will have the book ready for publication by Bettany Press
in late 2007-early 2008, and is unique in that it is being written by disabled women who reflect on their personal responses to their selected books.
For more information please e-mail me.
I enjoy reading, watching television, writing for pleasure, and I collect children's books both as a hobby and as an investment, in particular, and girl's school-stories written prior to the 1970s. While in Milton Keynes I also enjoyed reading plays with a group called Fletchers Players.
Between 1998 and 2005 I was List Admin for an e-mail discussion list called Girlsown
, which discusses girl's literature from all decades and all forms it takes. Although I am no longer List Admin, I host the Information Website for the list.
I find working on websites very calming - even when they don't do what I want them to - and formalised my self-taught understanding of HTML in 2002 when I gained my Diploma in Web Design. I am website designer for the New Chalet Club
and in the late autumn of 2003 I was asked to maintain a site for Claire Hall Consultancy
, and my umbrella site, called MalosaWeb
brings all my websites together.
